The Dartmoor Valley is situated within the Hawke’s Bay province on the east coast of the North Island of New Zealand. In the mid 70’s as neighbRosemount Farming Coing farms were growing grapes Ian started converting some of the land from cash cropping into vineyards. At the 60 hectares point he established wine making facilities and used the premium grapes for his own labels whilst selling the remainder to other wineries. In the early 1990’s started exporting to Australia, USA, Singapore, Thailand, China and Indonesia along with bulk (24k) amounts into Germany to be bottled for the client’s supermarket chain. Ian markets over 300,000 bottles of wines per year mainly to Singapore, Indonesia, China, India and the USA. With Ian’s vast experience in wine production and marketing to compliment his existing exports he has recently established a US importing and distribution company with its office in San Francisco and is providing a “route to market” for a portfolio of wines from New Zealand, Australian and Chilean wine producers. The portfolio comprises of 12 individual brands encompassing all the major grape varieties. This US base has given provided access to the Canadian market and have provided access to California wines for his markets and clients. Many of Ian’s wine exports has been under his own labels along with many being undertaken with the client’s own label, either their family or company’s crest or logo design.
